Guide 02 — Salons & barbershops

The salon phone rings when your hands are in foils

A colour client in the chair means ninety minutes when you physically cannot pick up. The caller who wanted a balayage does not leave a voicemail — she books wherever someone answers.

What a missed booking actually costs

One missed colour appointment
$120–250

Colour, balayage or highlights — the bookings most likely to call rather than use an app.

Three missed bookings a week
≈ $1,400 / mo

At a modest $110 average. Most owners who check their missed-call log find more.

Vandio, answering all of them
$149–299 / mo

Starter covers a quiet chair; Phone Agent covers a busy shop, 24/7.

Example maths — put in your own prices. The point is the ratio, not the exact figures.

Real calls, handled

§ 01

"Do you have anything for a cut and colour on Thursday afternoon?"

Checks the real calendar, offers actual open slots, books the one she picks, and sends her an SMS confirmation.

§ 02

"How much is balayage on long hair?"

Quotes your price list — the one you approved, not a guess — and offers to book a consultation if the caller hesitates.

§ 03

"I need to move my Friday appointment."

Finds the booking, rebooks it, frees the old slot, and confirms the change by SMS.

§ 04

A regular calls at 21:40, after closing.

Answers anyway, books her in, and your morning starts with a fuller book instead of a voicemail.

The AI knows your services, prices and open slots because it imported them from your website and calendar — you review everything before it goes live.

What it runs for a salon

  • Real appointment booking into Google Calendar or Vandio's built-in booking
  • Your actual service list and prices, imported from your website
  • SMS confirmations to the client, summary texts to you
  • Appointment reminders and missed-call text-back on the Automations tier
  • Twelve languages — the caller's, not just yours
  • After-hours only or always-on: your existing number just forwards

Salon owners ask

Can it book to a specific stylist?

Set each stylist up as a service (for example "Cut — Maria") and callers can ask for who they want. Slot lengths and prices are per service, so a barber cut and a full colour don't fight over the same half hour.

Will it double-book me?

No. It always checks availability before offering times, and a slot taken mid-call is caught at booking — the caller is offered the next open one instead.

What about no-shows?

The Automations tier sends reminder texts before appointments and a text-back to missed callers, which is where most no-show and lost-booking money hides.

I already use a booking app. Why answer the phone at all?

Because the callers are the clients your app never sees: new clients who found the number on Google, older regulars, and anyone with a question an app can't answer. The AI answers them and then books them into the same calendar.

Hear it before you buy it

The demo line is answered by Vandio itself. Call it, act like a customer, try to stump it — that conversation is the product.
